Cornwall's first Joomla! Training day

Well its quite late and I should be preparing, but I thought it would be worth blogging that the we are holding the first Joomla! Training day in Cornwall tomorrow.

15 hardy souls have signed their day away to learn how to make the most of this - should we call it phenomenon?  It (Joomla) has certainly come a long way in a few short years, and provides a platform for millions of web sites world wide.

And apart from providing the framework for some of the biggest sites in the world - well its free, and that's a good price!

Talking to students prompts re-evaluation of course notes

Every time we schedule a new Internet Marketing Course it gives me the opportunity to update the course notes, and hopefully of course to make improvements.

As you will know Internet Marketing is a fast moving field, and though the fundamentals of SEO and web marketing are very consistent, the details change, and the tactics used to achieve the best results move on from one week to the next.

The next course is a bit different however, because instead of presenting to a variety of businesses who are trying to create better results with their web sites, I have been invited to speak to writing students at our local university - University College Falmouth.

Autumn Training Programme - SEO and Social Media

On Wednesday December 1st we will be running our regular Internet marketing course in response to continued demand from the Cornish business Community.  Places again may be funded through DPN, so you can contact us if you would like to find out about the funding.

The day is suitable for anyone who would like their business to do better on-line, with the focus being on SEO in the morning, and Social Media marketing in the afternoon:

Autumn Training Programme - Joomla Course

Which brings me on to our autumn training programme......

Joomla! Training Day

The first date to be held on November 3rd in Cornwall  is a new departure for us - we will be providing a training day to the owners of Joomla web sites, again with the support of DPN (Digital Peninsula Network) who will be making sponsored places available to some qualifying Cornish businesses.

We do this a lot for individual clients and web site owners, so it only makes sense to extend this to the broader community as well. There are already hundreds of Joomla web sites owned and run by Cornish businesses and organisations, including to my knowledge University College Falmouth, the Falmouth, the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

Interesting day at the office

There is so much going at the moment that my blogging hasn't perhaps been as regular as it ought.

However today's activities have definitely prompted me to add a post.  Anna and I have just returned from abseiling down a cliff, which is something I actually haven't done since I was at school.  This is actually part of a photo shoot that we are doing prior to the launch of our new corporate sponsorship so I can't say anything else about it at present.  I promise I'll give more information and photos soon.

Needless to say that after dangling off a rope 30 foot up in the air, I return to the office refreshed and invigorated on this spectacularly sunny Cornish autumn day.

Benefits of multi-language web sites

This is to let you know about some support available for Cornish companies from UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) to translate the text of your web site, in order to market more effectively to potential customers overseas.

If you are interested in selling to foreign language markets, there are more advantages than you might think.

In addition to just being available to be searched and read by more people, there is an interesting benefit in search engines. The largest part of the Internet is written English. This means there is less competition for phrases in other languages.  So if you find it hard to rank top for a phrase like “Hotel Cornwall” in Google, there is yet hope for easier top rankings for “Gasthaus Cornwall”, or “Pensione Cornwall”.  (Search numbers will be lower, but if you are top, the visitors are still coming to you).
